Property up for rent for $210 in trendy Melbourne suburb is ruthlessly mocked

‘Cosy’ apartment hits the market for $210 a week – but can you spot the outrageous detail that has left renters speechless?

  • ‘Cosy’ one-bedroom rental is located in Fitzroy, just 3km from Melbourne’s CBD
  • Bed, couch and shower are all in the one room, with owners wanting $210 a week
  • People could not believe the listing was advertised in its current crammed state

An apartment up for rent in a trendy Melbourne suburb has raised eyebrows due to its bizarre layout.

The rental, up for grabs in Fitzroy for $210 a week, features a loft-style single bed with room underneath for a couch.

But it’s the inclusion of a shower and sink right next to the bed that has many perplexed.

The room includes accerss to a communal kitchen and laundry. It is not clear if the toilet is also inside the bedroom.

‘Tram stop at your doorstep, close to public transport, the city and several exciting shopping districts, this opportunity will not last long,’ the listing reads.

‘For just $910 a month you could live in a bathroom with a bunk bed,’ one wrote on Reddit after looking at a series of images from the property.

‘It’s listed as one bedroom, one bathroom not as one bed/bathroom. Surely that’s false advertising,’ another commented.

‘Wow. How is that even allowed?’ a third said.

It is believed the listing has been advertised online for the past few weeks – with no takers.

Other major cities in Australia also offer listings for excessive prices.

In April, a tiny studio in the enviable suburb Paddington, in Sydney’s inner-east, was listed for $300 a week.
